The tournament joins the American and Australian Opens in implementing video review systems.
Replay technology will make its debut at Wimbledon in the upcoming tournament.
Players are granted the ability to question particular calls from the official, following the system currently in place at both the US Open and the Aussie major.
This technology will be accessible on the main stadium and the number one court throughout the Championships and on the remaining featured courts when they are hosting singles contests.
This step comes just a season following the All England Club introduced ELC, which terminated the 147-year tradition of line officials.
Reviewable Decisions
Players cannot to challenge the accuracy of the electronic line calling, but they can ask for the official to re-examine other situations, including:
- Whether a ball has double-bounced.
- If a ball touched an opponent's racquet or person on the way past.
- Potential hindrance at the conclusion of a point.
Importantly, there will be an unlimited number on the number of reviews a player can initiate.
Practical Application
A recent case took place in Indian Wells last week, where Daniil Medvedev initiated the video challenge against his opponent.
The British player conceded it was a difficult call for the official, but believed his opponent had "used the regulations quite well."
The umpire viewed a video and ruled Draper was responsible for hindrance, granting the rally to Medvedev.
Wider Implementation
This technology are not new for major tournaments. The system has been in use at the US Open since 2023 and the Australian Open this year.
Furthermore, it is becoming more common on the WTA circuit, and by next season the men's ATP Tour will have video reviews implemented at all of its tournaments.
Further Updates
A further change at The Championships 2025 involves the introduction of graphical cues on displays to complement the audio calls from the electronic line calling system.
This solves instances where spectators have sometimes been uncertain whether a shot was in or out.
In other news, with precisely a century of days to go until the start of the Championships, organizers have further announced an expansion in daily attendance at the qualifiers in the qualifying venue.
